Virtual Camp 2020 Overview
- Date/Time: Camp will happen Monday through Thursday each week, 7/27-30 and 8/3-7 (no camp on Fridays). The unit size will be around 15-17 campers.
- Platform: We will be using Zoom and their breakout rooms. Camp will start all together in a large Zoom at 9 am, then units will move into assigned breakout rooms and go to either 11 or 12 depending on what you have planned for your unit for that day.

- This year, staff training will be conducted online. Please check your email for updates. All staff must complete 18 hours of training prior to camp - please complete the Diamond Crest Daycamp Training Log 2020 (this link will force you to make your own copy - please rename it and share with Valentine) as you work through training. Returning staff get 6 hours of credit.

- Camper Box: Each camper will receive a box delivered by the unit leader. We are hoping to create some excitement with the delivery of their unit camp box. Box materials should be picked up by Unit Leaders from Alpine or Chipmunk on Fri 7/17, and delivered to camper homes by Fri 7/24. Please let Moose know if you need assistance from AIDEs to help with camper boxes before delivery. The box will contain the following and more.
- 2 crafts from the craft team. The craft team will either join your call or post a video
- Lanyard Supplies
- Friendship Bracelet Supplies
- Clay – Sweet Pea will post a video on playing with clay
- Supplies in the box to cook a s’more.
- Instructions and supplies for Ice Cream in a Bag
- Plush Craft – sewing craft from Wood Duck
- Grade 2+ boxes will have supplies for making a fire starter
- Grade 3+ boxes will have instructions for a solar oven – Each camper will need to obtain a pizza box. Tip: During the first week, ask each camper to find a pizza box. Make the Solar Cooker the 2nd week. Then use the Solar Cooker to make S'Mores, using the ingredients provided.
- Grade 5+ boxes will have supplies for tying knots
- Nature Flag activities will be supplied to the leaders daily
- Pre-Recorded Programs: The following videos will be available to view. We have our own YouTube Channel to store our videos.
- Red Hawk will video a nature hike, teaching about trees, plants and animals at Huddart Park.
- Pine Nut will record a hike through Huddart Park
- Sweet Pea will present a playing with clay video
- Waluga and Kermit will post Flag Ceremony videos - opening first day, closing last day
- Waluga will have a knots video posted
- Ponyo will post a video for the Plush Craft
- Kermit and the creative time will have singing videos available
- Shutterbug is creating a video of past camp pictures to view
- Kitten will supply a dance video for campers to view
- In-Person Programs: The following people will visit your unit. These will be scheduled in advance. If you do not wish to have a program visit your unit, please let Merced know.
- Raven and/or Waterfall will teach classes on the crafts that are in the camper’s boxes.
- Red Hawk will visit the younger units and sing songs and play his ukulele
- Cleopatra will teach a class on basic first aid.
- Broadway will visit each unit and play theatre games.
- Puzzles is working on finding the best Escape Room to play with units.
- Luna will tell stories, sing songs with guitar/ukulele
